(BA) flight experienced technical difficulties with its landing gear on arrival<\/p>\n

at Cape Town International Airport only days after flights were grounded amid<\/p>\n

safety concerns.<\/p>\n

The same aircraft<\/p>\n

experienced landing gear difficulties in February.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, BA6324<\/p>\n

flight had trouble landing in Cape Town after experiencing “a landing gear<\/p>\n

warning indication”, said BA in a statement.<\/p>\n

The plane was<\/p>\n

travelling from Gqeberha.<\/p>\n

“We confirm that<\/p>\n

following a landing gear warning indication on BA6324 on final approach from<\/p>\n

Gqeberha [PLZ] to Cape Town International Airport [CPT], the pilot performed<\/p>\n

standard safety checks, and once the correct reading was achieved a normal<\/p>\n

landing was carried out,” the statement added.<\/p>\n

The landing<\/p>\n

difficulties resulted in a 15-minute delay.<\/p>\n

The latest incident<\/p>\n

comes only a month after a BA flight from East London to Johannesburg was<\/p>\n

forced to make an emergency landing. BA confirmed it was the same aircraft in<\/p>\n

both instances.<\/p>\n

The flight had 111<\/p>\n

passengers on board when it was forced to land at the Eastern Cape airport due<\/p>\n

to faulty landing gear on 20 February.<\/p>\n

Saturday’s incident<\/p>\n

comes only days after BA and kulula.com flights, both operated by Comair, returned<\/p>\n

to the air.<\/p>\n

The SA Civil Aviation<\/p>\n

Authority (SACAA) withdrew the company’s Air Operators’ Certificate after an<\/p>\n

audit into its compliance with civil aviation regulations. The audit followed a<\/p>\n

spate of occurrences that posed safety risks by kulula.com and BA.<\/p>\n

The inspection was<\/p>\n

also aimed at reviewing Comair’s safety management systems and quality control<\/p>\n

management system to establish compliance related to the reporting, analysis<\/p>\n

and follow-up on occurrences, and corrective action plans to prevent a<\/p>\n

recurrence.<\/p>\n

The SACAA ruled<\/p>\n

flights could resume on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
