Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>A false fire alarm set off evacuation procedures at the King Shaka International Airport on Saturday, the Airports Company of SA (ACSA) said.<\/p>\n

The company added although it turned out to be a false alarm, it always had to follow evacuation protocol.<\/p>\n

The procedure set off a number of appeals for information on Twitter when passengers were confused over why they were being corralled at the airport.<\/p>\n

ACSA said there would be flight delays as a result, and passengers must call their airline directly to check whether their flight was affected.<\/p>\n

It tweeted: “Good day, thank you for getting in touch. Kindly note it was a false fire alarm. We apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.”<\/p>\n

Last Sunday, flights were delayed at the same airport due to a refuelling “glitch”. In that case, they were having problems with the fuel hydrant system. Refuelling had to be done by a tanker.<\/p>\n
