Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The sentencing of a North West man found guilty of murder and two counts of attempted murder has been postponed to May.<\/p>\n

Confidence Sekgoro, 38, appeared at the Klerksdorp Regional Court on Monday where his lawyer successfully requested that his case be postponed pending outstanding medical records.<\/p>\n

The defence team requested that sentencing be postponed to 11 May as they needed to submit a detailed report to the court for sentencing preparations.<\/p>\n

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Henry Mamothame, said: “The matter was set for sentencing on 11 April 2022. However, his defence team requested a postponement to allow the probation officer to receive Sekgoro’s medical report and for her to submit a comprehensive report in preparation for sentencing.”<\/p>\n

On November 2019, Sekgoro handed himself to the police after he shot dead Mohamed Dangor, 31, and attempted to kill his colleagues Mehboob Soomra, 36, and Yusuf Ally, 61.<\/p>\n

Sekgoro later testified that he was acting in self-defence.<\/p>\n

However, his submission was dismissed following video footage presented as evidence which showed there had been no threat against him at the time.<\/p>\n
