Search and rescue teams on Friday discovered the remains of dead animals scattered across a stream of water in Inanda, north of Durban.<\/p>\n

The teams, made up of police and emergency personnel, combed streams to look for missing persons believed to be swept away by the heavy floods on 11 April.<\/p>\n

The teams first met at Virginia airport before being deployed to various identified areas. Some left by helicopter, others drove in a convoy of vehicles. They were followed by a few journalists.<\/p>\n

Around 13:00, the team stopped on the bridge where Ntombenhle Nkosi, 15, was swept away.<\/p>\n

Her disabled father, Joseph Nkosi, 56, was joined by residents who were searching for Ntombenhle.<\/p>\n

They suspected that Ntombenhle was not far from her home, which was a stone’s throw away from the bridge where she was last seen.<\/p>\n

Deceased<\/b><\/p>\n

The soft-spoken Nkosi has lost hope that his daughter is alive.<\/p>\n

“All I want is to find her bones and bury them,” he said.<\/p>\n

Walking with the aid of a walking stick, Nkosi was seen pulling out debris in his search for Ntombenhle.<\/p>\n

He said:<\/p>\n

Nkosi said he was struggling to eat.<\/p>\n

He said he battled to answer questions from Ntombenhle’s two siblings as to her whereabouts.<\/p>\n

“My two little children want to know where their elder sister is. They ask me when she is coming home. I am struggling to respond to them, that she has been taken away by the floods.<\/p>\n

“They have developed the fear of walking to the bridge. They don’t want to go to school without their sister. I am shattered. My main wish is to find Ntombenhle,” Nkosi said.<\/p>\n
