Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Three children woke up to the grim discovery of their 38-year-old mother lying dead in Sebokeng, Vereeniging.<\/p>\n

Gauteng police said they received information about the murder on Sunday morning, and upon officers’ arrival on the scene, they found Eva Anna Radebe in a pool of blood.<\/p>\n

Police spokesperson Constable Busisiwe Sango said Radebe’s body had been discovered by her children. Sango said Radebe’s husband had turned himself in at the Sebokeng police station on Monday.<\/p>\n

“The investigation is still under way to determine the cause of death,” said Sango.<\/p>\n

The husband, Hendrick Booysen, appeared in the Sebokeng Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. He is set to reappear on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

May Zikalala, the deceased’s sister, told News24:<\/p>\n

Zikalala also got a phone call from a relative of Booysen.<\/p>\n

“Apparently, Hendrick (Booysen) called his cousin, using a private number, telling him that he should go to his household as he had done something. Hendrick refused to say what he had done, only informing him to call the police or ambulance.”<\/p>\n

According to Zikalala, Booysen had told his cousin during the phone call that he had fled.<\/p>\n

“When I arrived on the scene, police only allowed my uncle to go inside the house and see the body. Later, when we were cleansing my sister’s body, [we saw that] she had sustained what looked like stab wounds to her head,” Zikalala said.<\/p>\n

She said Radebe was secretive and would only share things when it had already passed.<\/p>\n

She said the couple had a volatile relationship and, when she got the call from Radebe’s daughter, she thought it was about them fighting again.<\/p>\n

“Sometimes Eva would not tell me anything. I would only see from her bruises that something was not right, but she would just brush it off as a light thing.”<\/p>\n

Zikalala said it pained her to see Radebe’s youngest child explaining to her friends that “her father killed her mother”.<\/p>\n

“It is very painful seeing the kids, especially the young one. You can see that he’s confused. He does not know what is happening,” said Zikalala of Radebe’s 6-year-old son.<\/p>\n
