Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>A number of people were injured on Friday after five vehicles were involved in an accident on the R554 in the south of Johannesburg.<\/p>\n

Two BMWs, a Toyota Etios state car that was being driven by a police officer, a Haval H1, and a taxi carrying a full load of passengers were involved in the crash.<\/p>\n

According to witnesses, the red Haval lost control and caused the other four cars to collide with each other.<\/p>\n

Paseka Mokebe, 53, who was driving a silver BMW that was also involved in the crash, told News24 that everything happened very fast.<\/p>\n

He said all he recalled was seeing a red car losing control and colliding with him.<\/p>\n

Mokebe was also puzzled at the scale of the accident as he never thought one car could cause such mayhem.<\/p>\n

“I don’t understand if the driver of the red car seemed as if she was in an argument with another passenger because I only saw the car losing control and suddenly colliding with mine”, Sekele said.<\/p>\n

Mokebe said after realising his passenger was OK he immediately went to check on the full loaded taxi that also collided with his car.<\/p>\n

“After realising that I sustained a minor scratch, I rushed to the taxi and the taxi driver seemed to be stuck. We further proceeded to help the passengers inside who looked seriously injured.”<\/p>\n

Considering the seriousness of the accident, Mokebe said there was no way the driver of the Haval was travelling below the 80km speed limit.<\/p>\n

One of the tow truck drivers, who arrived on the scene, told News24 they were already helping injured people when paramedics arrived.<\/p>\n

“We assisted the paramedics with the injured passengers inside the taxi. The female driver of the Haval seemed seriously injured, including her passenger.<\/p>\n

The accident also confused other drivers about how one car coming from a different lane affects so many cars.<\/p>\n

According to the tow trucker, paramedics found the Haval engine a few meters away from the car while they were searching for injured people.<\/p>\n
