Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>A police task team has been put together to probe the murder of a Limpopo college lecturer in an alleged mob attack in the Lebowakgomo policing area on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Parkwood mob attack victim identified, six people arrested for his murder<\/p>\n

According to police, community members thought 43-year-old Waterberg TVET College facilitator, Sphiwe Patrick Zondo, was a stock thief.<\/p>\n

“Preliminary police investigations revealed that the victim, who was a resident of Lebowakgomo, but originates from Vryheid in KwaZulu-Natal, often buys goats from the surrounding villages and takes them home [to KwaZulu-Natal]. On this fateful day, he was accosted by community members [in] Mamaolo when he was seen transporting several goats in a bakkie,” police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi said.<\/p>\n

Seabi added:<\/p>\n

The bakkie was also torched.<\/p>\n

The suspected stolen goats were not found at the scene.<\/p>\n

Police are investigating Zondo’s murder, as well as a case of malicious damage to property.<\/p>\n

Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe said: “A team has been ordered to relentlessly hunt down all perpetrators who were involved in this brutal killing and bring them to book. Incidents of people taking the law into their own hands are now [escalating] and the police will deal with them as matters of priority, and anyone found to be on the wrong side of the law will face serious consequences.”<\/p>\n
