Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Police have arrested four suspected robbers in the Johannesburg CBD for allegedly impersonating police officers.<\/p>\n

The suspected robbers are believed to have been targeting people at banks, following them home and robbing them.<\/p>\n

The alleged robbers, aged 33 to 37, were arrested on Wednesday. They were allegedly found with police uniforms, a replica of a firearm, and a car fitted with blue lights and false registration plates.<\/p>\n

Following a tip-off, police officers kept “close observation of the suspects” before stopping them in the Johannesburg CBD, said police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo.<\/p>\n

“The police’s Crime Intelligence members received information about suspects who were involved in bank-follow robberies and that they were going to rob one of the victims in Johannesburg,” said Masondo.<\/p>\n

He said:<\/p>\n

All four suspects were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit a robbery, impersonating police officers, and possession of suspected stolen property. More changes might be added, said Masondo.<\/p>\n
