Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>A grief-stricken Gauteng mother is anxiously awaiting an autopsy report to get answers about what caused her three-year-old son’s death.<\/p>\n

Oyama Tyalintsika died on Wednesday, shortly after he was rushed to a clinic.<\/p>\n

Philiswa Tyalintsika, 37, said nurses suspected that her son had consumed poison.<\/p>\n

Speaking to News24 inside her shack in Ivory Park, Tyalintsika said she has had sleepless nights following her son’s death.<\/p>\n

A heartbroken Tyalintsika said:<\/p>\n

According to the mother, she left her son as he was playing with her neighbour’s children on Wednesday at around 10:00.<\/p>\n

The two families reside in shacks in the same yard.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t spend too much time at the shops. I left him playing with my neighbour’s children, as usual. My neighbour Mathamzima Mboniswa was at his home, looking after Oyama and his two minor children.”<\/p>\n

Tyalintsika said:<\/p>\n

After taking a bath, Oyama and his mother took a nap.<\/p>\n

“I was awoken by him asking to speak to his father on the phone. We phoned his father. They spoke before his father hung up. My child started sweating. His hands were on his stomach.<\/p>\n

“I asked what was wrong. He didn’t reply. He just looked at me. His eyes started rolling backwards. White foam came out of his mouth. I took him to Mboniswa, who said we should rush him to Bophelong Clinic.”<\/p>\n

Family wants answers after father allegedly gave children poison-laced energy drinks<\/p>\n

“We didn’t spend more than 10 minutes at the clinic, and it was over. Nurses tried their best to save his life. They didn’t win. They suspect that he consumed poison.”<\/p>\n

Tyalintsika said she too suspected that her son consumed something laced with poison.<\/p>\n

According to Tyalintsika, her neighbour’s son then had similar symptoms.<\/p>\n

“Mboniswa’s son, 3, was vomiting. His child was lucky because the nurses managed to save his life. I am not angry at anyone, including my neighbour. I am not blaming anyone for his death,” Tyalintsika added.<\/p>\n

She said she was awaiting the results of the post-mortem to find out what happened.<\/p>\n

Mboniswa said he also did not know what the children consumed.<\/p>\n

He said his two young children were playing in their yard with Oyama.<\/p>\n

“When my neighbour brought Oyama to me, I could see that his condition was beyond our control. We rushed him to a clinic. Later, my son started vomiting. I don’t know what they had eaten.<\/p>\n

“This is painful. My neighbour has lost a child. Her son died after playing with my child. I hope she gets the strength to overcome her pain,” Mboniswa added.<\/p>\n

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo, said police opened an inquest docket.<\/p>\n

“An investigation is under way. We are waiting for the toxicology report that will confirm the cause of death,” Masondo said.<\/p>\n
