Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Western Cape police say the murder of a Cape Town restaurateur, who was lured to Nyanga for a private TV sale, is “not an isolated incident”.<\/p>\n

Ben Tuzee, 51, co-owner of Dixies Restaurant in Simon\u2019s Town was stabbed multiple times during a hijacking last week.<\/p>\n

Three males – two of them teenagers – were arrested in Browns Farm on Monday in connection with the murder.<\/p>\n

Tuzee’s sister, Tinkeke Lombard, previously told News24 that her brother and her 33-year-old daughter Kaele had driven to the area to meet with a potential buyer for Kaele’s TV on Tuesday 6 September.<\/p>\n

According to Western Cape police spokesperson Colonel Andr\u00e8 Traut, Tuzee was asked to make the delivery to Msenge Street.<\/p>\n

On arrival, Tuzee and his niece “came under attack by three suspects”. The suspects fled in Tuzee\u2019s vehicle after stabbing him. Tuzee\u2019s niece survived the incident unharmed. The stolen vehicle was later recovered not far from the crime scene, Traut said.<\/p>\n

“Tuzee\u2019s murder is not regarded [as] an isolated incident, as we are aware of more incidents where victims who made use of social media platforms to advertise items, fell victim after they were requested to make the delivery to areas in Nyanga such as Browns Farm and Crossroads,” he added.<\/p>\n

“We have reason to believe that criminals use their interest in an advertised item on social media platforms such as [Facebook] Market Place as a decoy to perpetrate a robbery or other serious and violent crime, by luring their victim to come to them.”<\/p>\n

The three suspects \u2013 aged 16, 18, and 23 \u2013 were expected to appear in court once charged, said Traut.<\/p>\n

Lombard previously described her brother as being well-loved by customers and the community.<\/p>\n
