Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Helen Joseph Hospital in Johannesburg, which has been affected by water shortages in parts of Gauteng over the last two weeks, now has a normal water supply, according to CEO Relebohile Ncha.<\/p>\n

She revealed this during a site inspection Johannesburg Mayor Sello Dada Morero conducted on Thursday amid the water outages.<\/p>\n

The hospital in Auckland Park, along with Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital in Coronationville, had no running water. Both public hospitals were fed by the Hursthill reservoir.<\/p>\n

“As of Thursday, Helen Joseph Hospital has reported 100% water capacity coming into the building with no interruption to any of the facility’s services,” Ncha said.<\/p>\n

Explaining the situation over the last two weeks, the CEO said:<\/p>\n

She said the hospital was working on a contingency plan with Johannesburg Water so that water tankers would be sent out immediately when water pressure drops.<\/p>\n

Morero said a continuous water supply could be expected within the next week.<\/p>\n

“[W]e are still busy with the process of stabilising the system, and we will be monitoring this process for the next week so that we make sure that we continuously improve the supply of water,” Johannesburg Water director Ntshavheni Mukwevho added.<\/p>\n

Rand Water is implementing Stage 2 water restrictions on heavy users, due to high water demand and a strain on its reserves.<\/p>\n
