Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Chief Tikhontele Dlamini of the Kalomshiya Tribal Authority, who allegedly hired a hitman to kill his son a year ago, has been granted bail.<\/p>\n

Dlamini, 80, appeared in the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on a murder charge on Monday.<\/p>\n

According to National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Monica Nyuswa, Dlamini was granted bail of R7 000 on the condition that he reported to the Matsulu police station once a week and did not interfere with State witnesses.<\/p>\n

Dlamini’s alleged crime dates back to 4 January 2021.<\/p>\n

Nyuswa said it was alleged Dlamini had leased land belonging to his son, Zwelithini Dlamini, without his knowledge. Upon hearing his land had been leased to someone else, the victim confronted the accused, and a squabble ensued.<\/p>\n

Mpumalanga police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said after the murder, a team of investigators was assembled to probe the case, which led to the arrest of Dlamini, a prominent figure in the community, on 4 November at Sherlock, Low’s Creek, just outside Nelspruit.<\/p>\n

When he appeared in court on Monday, he was granted bail, and his case was postponed to 13 December for further investigation.<\/p>\n
