Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has granted the Hawks a final order to seize R9 million worth of gold from alleged smuggler Masnire Tashinga Nyasa.<\/p>\n

Nyasa had attempted to smuggle 23 pieces of gold into South Africa in May last year.<\/p>\n

He was arrested on arrival from Zimbabwe at OR Tambo International Airport.<\/p>\n

News24 reported the arrest followed customs officials’ request to scan his luggage, during which the gold was found.<\/p>\n

He failed to declare the gold, nor did he have a permit or licence to possess it.<\/p>\n

He was released on R100 000 bail after appearing in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on charges of illegally dealing in precious metals.<\/p>\n

Gauteng Hawks spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha said the court issued the order on 26 October.<\/p>\n
