Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is seeking to increase cooperation among member states in the recovery of ill-gotten wealth when the bloc’s Anti-Corruption Committee (SACC) meets on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The SACC will be meeting in Boksburg from 23 to 25 November and will be chaired by Andy Mothibi the outgoing committee chairperson.<\/p>\n

Mothibi is also the head of the Special Investigating Unit.<\/p>\n

In a statement, the SACC said: “The aim of the meeting is to strengthen the efforts to implement the SADC Strategic Anti-Corruption Action Plan (2023 to 2027), partnerships in recovery of assets, and enhance coordination between the SADC secretariat and member states through the anti-corruption agencies.”<\/p>\n

During the two-day meeting, the SACC will explore emerging trends in corruption across the region.<\/p>\n

It said in a statement:<\/p>\n

The SADC Strategic Anti-Corruption Action Plan 2023 to 2027 will replace the 2018 to 2022 model which ends in December.<\/p>\n

Southern Africa is grappling with corruption against the backdrop of Covid-19.<\/p>\n
