Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Six people were arrested in connection with an alleged vigilante attack in Limpopo in which two suspected robbers were stoned to death.<\/p>\n

One person was arrested on Monday and the other five arrests were made on Tuesday in Witpoort, outside Lephalale, almost a week after the attack.<\/p>\n

The men were accused of robbing foreigner-owned shops in Senoela village.<\/p>\n

“On Wednesday, 4 January, the local community members gathered after the alleged suspects attacked the owner of one of the shops with pepper spray and demanded cash. The shop owner allegedly called for help, and community members responded,” Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said.<\/p>\n

The suspected robbers managed to flee but were later traced to their homes in a nearby village.<\/p>\n

Mojapelo added:<\/p>\n

The one was identified as Duncan Mabila, 25, and the other was only identified as Steve, reportedly from Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

The six people, aged 27 to 43, are expected to appear in the Phalala Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

They face two counts of murder.<\/p>\n

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe said the arrests should send out a strong message that the police will not tolerate of acts of lawlessness.<\/p>\n
