Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Limpopo police have arrested a suspect in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a 23-year-old man whose remains were found almost six months after he disappeared.<\/p>\n

Kwena Mokoka was reported missing from his village Mafefe in July 2022.<\/p>\n

Mokoka “disappeared mysteriously” after he went outside his house to answer a phone call on Saturday, 30 July 2022, at about 18:00, said police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.<\/p>\n

“He didn’t return, and family members searched for him and even called his phone, but it was off. The matter was reported to the police, and search operations never yielded any positive results,” said Mojapelo.<\/p>\n

“On Wednesday, Mokoka’s remains were found cemented in a pipe next to a river. After months of searching, the investigating team was able to positively link the suspect to the incident,” said Mojapelo.<\/p>\n

“A 41-year-old has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on Friday to face charges of kidnapping and murder.<\/p>\n

“The motive for the incident will be determined through ongoing police investigations. DNA tests will be conducted for conclusive identification of the deceased as well as a post-mortem to determine the cause of death,” Mojapelo said.<\/p>\n

Limpopo police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, praised the investigating team for recovering Mokoka’s remains.<\/p>\n

“We commend the team for finally apprehending the suspect and recovering the remains of the victim. Even though it took some time for the police to crack this case, the family can take solace in the fact that the remains of their loved one have been found and the suspect arrested,” said Hadebe.<\/p>\n
