Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Four people have been arrested in connection with corruption and fraud at North West licensing and testing stations.<\/p>\n

The arrests were made during an operation by several units in Ventersdorp, Klerksdorp and Jouberton on Monday.<\/p>\n

The suspects, aged 31 to 48, were apprehended as part of “Project Crocodile Farm”, which started in September 2021 after information was received about alleged corruption at the Klerksdorp municipal licensing and testing station, said police spokesperson, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone.<\/p>\n

“The suspects, who include three examiners and the owner of a driving school, allegedly colluded and conducted numerous unlawful driver’s and learner’s licence transactions in exchange for cash,” said Mokgwabone.<\/p>\n

The arrests came less than two months after eight people were apprehended at the Vryburg and Ganyesa licensing and testing stations on charges of corruption and fraud, Mokgwabone added.<\/p>\n

All the suspects are expected to appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on corruption and fraud charges.<\/p>\n
