Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>An Eastern Cape man has been arrested for allegedly murdering four people, believed to be his relatives, with an axe at their Lusikisiki homestead.<\/p>\n

According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana, the “axe-wielding” man was arrested on Thursday evening in the France area in connection with the murder of four family members. One of the victims was a five-year-old.<\/p>\n

On Thursday at around 19:00, the 24-year-old man assaulted the family with an axe, said Kinana.<\/p>\n

The four victims \u2013 aged five, 38, 42 and 69 \u2013 all died at the scene. One person managed to escape the attack, Kinana added.<\/p>\n

“Police were alerted to the incident by members of the local community and one eyewitness who escaped the ordeal unharmed,” he said.<\/p>\n

The motive for the murders was unknown, Kinana added.<\/p>\n

The man was expected to appear in the Lusikisiki Magistrate’s Court on Friday, Kinana added.<\/p>\n
