Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>A month after being voted in as mayor of the Mogale City Municipality by the ANC-EFF alliance, Molefi Thupane has announced the councillors he appointed to his mayoral committee.<\/p>\n

Thupane, from the African Transformation Movement (ATM), was elected by 43 councillors following the ousting of DA councillor and former mayor, Tyrone Gray, after a vote of no confidence.<\/p>\n

The ATM councillor’s support came mainly from the ANC and EFF alliance which has seen members from minority parties, including the African Independent Congress, being placed as mayors.<\/p>\n

The arrangement has also been instrumental in removing DA speakers and mayors in municipalities throughout Gauteng.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Wednesday, Thupane revealed that his committee consisted of four EFF and six ANC MMCs.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Thupane said: “We are ready to make a positive, meaningful, and lasting impact in the lives of residents of Mogale City because we now have a fully-fledged team of committed compatriots.”<\/p>\n

Celebrating the appointment of its members, the EFF in Gauteng released a statement on Wednesday, wishing its councillors well, adding, “These are community activists who have also been … through the internal organisational process, and their duty is to deliver services to the people of Mogale City.”<\/p>\n

Last week, West Rand District Municipality Mayor Thabiso Bovungana also appointed a mayoral committee consisting of ANC and EFF councillors.<\/p>\n

Bovungana, who is a lone AIC councillor in that municipality, was assisted by the ANC and EFF alliance who elected him as mayor. This followed the removal of a DA mayor, speaker and chief whip.<\/p>\n
