Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>North West acting Premier Nono Maloyi has fired Social Development MEC Boitumelo Moiloa, who had been on suspension for over a month.<\/p>\n

Moiloa was relieved of her duties on Tuesday and has been replaced by Lazurus Mokgosi, the ANC provincial deputy chairperson.<\/p>\n

Mokgosi was sworn-in on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

“The intervention is making positive progress and nearing completion. The public will be informed in due course of the outcome of various areas of intervention in the department,” Maloyi said.<\/p>\n

Premier Bushy Maape is still on sick leave after he had surgery last month.<\/p>\n

Before going on sick leave, Maape had placed Moiloa and the head of the social development department, Relebohile Mofokane, on “special leave” because they were unable to work together.<\/p>\n

This was done in an attempt to mitigate the “near-administrative paralysis” caused by the infighting, Maape said at the time.<\/p>\n

He had also said their inability to work together placed the department’s delivery of services and good governance at risk.<\/p>\n

Moiloa was then suspended with immediate effect while Mofokane was placed on a one-month special leave.<\/p>\n

Maloyi said Obakeng Mongale, the acting HOD, will continue with his acting role until the end of July 2023.<\/p>\n
