Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The former speaker of the Western Cape legislature, Masizole Mnqasela, is expected to launch his political party this weekend.<\/p>\n

During a press briefing on Thursday, Mnqasela, who left the DA on bitter terms, said he was approached by community activists and leaders to start a political alternative for people who are fed-up with the ANC and DA.<\/p>\n

Mnqasela said South African voters, who had been left disillusioned by the “empty” promises of the ANC and DA, would have a new and better option to choose from in the upcoming elections with the establishment of a brand-new political party under his leadership.<\/p>\n

“I decided to take up this new and refreshed mandate and part ways with the DA, not only because of the denialists in the DA who deny the pains that still exist in our country, caused by colonialism and apartheid, but also because South Africans are desperate for change. They are desperate for a viable alternative,” he said.<\/p>\n

Mnqasela said the current status quo could no longer be tolerated as South Africans were frustrated with the country’s direction.<\/p>\n

He said:<\/p>\n

The name of the new political party will be made public at its launch in Mitchells Plain on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Mnqasela said Mitchells Plain was one of the crucial constituencies the party would focus on during the upcoming national and provincial elections.<\/p>\n

“I have built a close relationship with this community throughout my 21-year political tenure, hence the decision to launch the party here,” he said.<\/p>\n

Mnqasela and the DA fell out after the party’s federal legal commission charged him with misconduct.<\/p>\n

Whistleblowers had approached Western Cape Premier Alan Winde with allegations of fraud and corruption related to Mnqasela’s travel, entertainment and allowance claims.<\/p>\n

The party also reported him to the Hawks.<\/p>\n

Mnqasela has repeatedly denied the allegations.<\/p>\n
