{"id":53126,"date":"2023-08-25T21:21:28","date_gmt":"2023-08-25T21:21:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/?p=53126"},"modified":"2023-08-25T20:51:16","modified_gmt":"2023-08-25T20:51:16","slug":"judge-motatas-bid-to-avoid-impeachment-hits-a-wall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/south-africa\/all-news\/judge-motatas-bid-to-avoid-impeachment-hits-a-wall","title":{"rendered":"Judge Motata&#8217;s bid to avoid impeachment hits a wall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The process for Judge Nkola Motata to become the first judge to be removed in South Africa has reached the next step, as Parliament on Friday confirmed that it had received correspondence from Chief Justice Raymond Zondo pertaining to a finding of gross misconduct against Motata.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the letter, Chief Justice Zondo apprises the Speaker, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, of the Judicial Conduct Tribunal&#8217;s determination that Judge Motata has been found guilty of gross misconduct in line with section 177(1)(a) of the Constitution.
