Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>A defence lawyer in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial wants access to all the photographs found on the phone of his client, Mthobisi Prince Mncube – not just the ones the State presented as evidence.<\/p>\n

This emerged in the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Wednesday where Mncube and his four co-accused are on trial for Meyiwa’s murder.<\/p>\n

The former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was shot dead in Vosloorus on 26 October 2014, while visiting the home of his girlfriend’s mother. He was dating singer Kelly Khumalo at the time.<\/p>\n

State witness Constable Sizwe Zungu is under cross-examination.<\/p>\n

In Zungu’s evidence-in-chief, he placed the accused at the Sotho hostel in Vosloorus on the day that Meyiwa was murdered. At least two of the accused said they weren’t anywhere near Vosloorus on the day.<\/p>\n

He also told the court that the accused left the hostel and returned later in the evening.<\/p>\n

Photographs <\/b><\/p>\n

During cross-examination, Mncube’s lawyer started asking Zungu questions about two photographs that were admitted as evidence.<\/p>\n

The photos were found on Mncube’s cellphone, which was confiscated after his arrest.<\/p>\n

Zungu previously testified that the photos of Mncube were taken on the same day that Meyiwa was killed.<\/p>\n

News24 previously reported that Mncube did not dispute that it was him in the images.<\/p>\n

It is alleged that the photos were taken while Zungu, Mncube and two other accused, Bongani Ntanzi and Muzi Sibiya, went to buy liquor.<\/p>\n

Zungu previously testified that when he met Mncube at the hostel, he was wearing a lime-coloured T-shirt and necklace. But he wasn’t wearing the same clothing in the photographs.<\/p>\n

Mnisi quizzed Zungu on this but he responded that when Mncube introduced himself at the hostel, he was wearing a lime-coloured T-shirt.<\/p>\n

Zungu also reiterated that the images were not taken at the hostel.<\/p>\n

After a short adjournment, presumably for Mnisi to go through the photo albums, he said he would not be able to continue with the cross-examination of all the photos found on Mncube’s phone.<\/p>\n

He then requested that the State hand over a copy of all the images. State advocate George Baloyi said the investigating officer would try and get the images before the end of the day.<\/p>\n

The trial was postponed to Thursday.<\/p>\n
