Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Two men accused of selling muffins laced with dagga to schoolchildren appeared in the Soshanguve Magistrate’s Court on Friday.<\/p>\n

Amukelani Nyulunga, 19, and Ofentse Maluleka, 21, were arrested on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said the pair faced nine attempted murder charges.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, 90 Grade R to 7 pupils at Pulamadibogo Primary School were hospitalised after consuming the muffins.<\/p>\n

They had complained of nausea, stomach cramps and vomiting.<\/p>\n

Concerned teachers alerted emergency services, who rushed the pupils to nearby health facilities.<\/p>\n

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane said all affected pupils were discharged.<\/p>\n

“We are hopeful that they can apprehend more unscrupulous individuals who may be involved in this criminal act, which can stand as a deterrent to others who seek to peddle drugs to our learners.<\/p>\n

“We are grateful that most affected learners are recovering and wish those who are still unwell a speedy recovery.”<\/p>\n
