Former Transnet CFO and Gupta associate Anoj Singh’s application for his bail conditions to be amended has been dismissed.<\/p>\n

Singh approached the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court to have the conditions eased amid fraud and corruption charges.<\/p>\n

The former chartered accountant told the court that he wanted to take a job offer in Dubai because he could not find employment in South Africa due to his alleged links to state capture.<\/p>\n

Singh, alongside 14 others, including former Transnet CEO Brian Molefe, was implicated in the entity’s procurement of 1,064 locomotives in 2015.<\/p>\n

Singh\u2019s application for his bail conditions to be relaxed is based on an employment offer from a company in Dubai called Buy 4 Rich.<\/p>\n

In his application, the former chartered accountant claimed he could not find employment in South Africa due to his alleged Gupta links and as a result, he could not earn a living, which is his constitutional right.<\/p>\n

But in his ruling, Magistrate Emmanuel Magampa said Singh\u2019s right to work must be balanced against other considerations, specifically that people accused of crimes should stand trial to have their guilt or innocence determined.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Magampa also said that while Singh may not be able to find work as a CEO or CFO after being stripped his CA title, it was difficult to believe that he could not find any other job as an ordinary employee or a consultant.<\/p>\n
