Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Anglican Archbishop Thabo Makgoba says the level of inequality in the country is a threat to all, adding that it’s the foremost reason citizens should go out and vote.<\/p>\n

Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town Thabo Makgoba has called on South Africans to think carefully about who they will vote for in the May elections.<\/p>\n

Speaking during an Easter sermon at St George’s Cathedral on Saturday night, Makgoba told parishioners to vote for the party or independent candidate they feel will most benefit the poor and marginalised.The archbishop says the level of inequality in the country is a threat to all, adding that it’s the foremost reason citizens should go out and vote.<\/p>\n

“The future direction of South Africa rests on your vision of what our State will look like in the future and your judgment of who can build it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Makgoba said even after voting, South Africans will have a further responsibility.<\/p>\n

“It will be up to every one of us to be vigilant, to remain involved in the political process and to lobby and campaign for the changes we have voted for to be put into effect.”<\/p>\n

The leader of the Anglican church in Southern Africa also addressed the religious community.<\/p>\n

He said churches and other faith bodies “dare not be neutral” as South Africa approached its national elections.<\/p>\n
