Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>A luxury property in Silver Lakes Estates (Pretoria), a Mercedes Benz Viano and Chevrolet Utility belonging to former Eskom manager Duduzile Moyo and her husband is set to be auctioned off by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU).<\/p>\n

This move is an attempt to recover some of the financial losses incurred at Eskom\u2019s Kusile Power Station during Moyo\u2019s tenure, resulting from corrupt contracts.<\/p>\n

As Eskom Contracts Manager, Moyo approved 23 interim payment certificates for Tamukelo Business Enterprise, an Eskom vendor, between December 2011 and July 2014 totaling approximately R138 million.<\/p>\n

Tamukelo, which was appointed to transport raw materials and water from Kendal Power Stations to Kusile Power Station, then allegedly gave Moyo around R25 million in kickbacks.<\/p>\n

The SIU\u2019s probe revealed that Tamukelo and its representatives paid entities linked or associated with Moyo while she negotiated and managed their contract with Eskom.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoyo\u2019s modus operandi was to create structures of entities owned by members of her family and friends to receive these funds,\u201d said the SIU.<\/p>\n

Moyo was also part of a team that presented Tamukelo\u2019s tender negotiation strategy worth more than R300 million to a tender and procurement committee, while claiming that she had no conflicts of interests in the matter.<\/p>\n

The former manager \u201cdeceived Eskom and repeatedly made fraudulent misrepresentations, declaring that there was no conflict of interest when dealing with Tamukelo and other role players for five years when signing Eskom\u2019s Annual Declaration of Conflict Interest Policy,\u201d added the SIU.<\/p>\n

This is not the first move against Moyo by the SIU. Back in September 2022, the SIU froze her pension benefits shortly after she handed in her resignation from the utility.<\/p>\n
