Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>For the 2023 elections, 52 parties will be competing for the electorate\u2019s attention and vote.<\/p>\n

The Alliance of Citizens for Change (ACC) has scored the top spot on the national ballot at the upcoming general elections.<\/p>\n

The ACC – led by former Democratic Alliance member Masizole Mnqasela – is contesting the elections for the first since its formation last year.<\/p>\n

The order of how the 52 political parties contesting the national elections will appear on the elections ballot was decided by the Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) at a draw in Midrand on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The ballot paper at the May 29 polls will be the longest since the dawn of democracy.<\/p>\n

This means 52 parties will be competing for the electorate\u2019s attention and vote.<\/p>\n

Political parties contesting the watershed elections think being at the top of the list could mean top of mind when the electorate is faced with a tough choice at the polls.<\/p>\n

Earlier \u2013 IEC chief electoral officer Sy Mamabolo erroneously drew an independent for the top spot on the ballot.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we err, we err in public and we have to apologise. My left hand picks up as all the time. This one reads \u2018Alliance of Citizens for Change.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

After the ACC – the remaining parties will be ranked in alphabetical order.<\/p>\n
