The City of Tshwane has placed five senior staff members on precautionary suspension regarding a tender awarded at the Rooiwal water treatment plant.<\/p>\n

The metro says the five were suspended after an internal disciplinary process found them guilty of one of the four charges they faced.<\/p>\n

The officials were charged with among others, gross negligence in the performance of their duties.<\/p>\n

The charges relate to awarding a R290 million tender that was found to be irregular.<\/p>\n

“A final determination was made yesterday [Friday] to place them on precautionary suspension with full pay,” said City of Tshwane metro spokesperson Selby Bokaba.<\/p>\n

“The City is of the view that their continued presence at the workplace will be detrimental to the stability of the municipality.”<\/p>\n
