Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The Presidency says there\u2019s no truth to claims that the lack of load shedding was part of a ploy to buy votes for the African National Congress (ANC) in the lead-up to the national elections.<\/p>\n

Since the start of the year, the country has experienced unrelenting bouts of load shedding.<\/p>\n

Eskom had previously warned that residents and businesses were in for a darker 2024 after facing the worst power cuts in 2023.<\/p>\n

The power utility has since been accused of being manipulated by the ANC-led government to keep the lights on at all costs.<\/p>\n

Presidential spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, said that government\u2019s interventions were beginning to yield fruit.<\/p>\n

“The actions taken since President Ramaphosa announced the Energy Action Plan (EAP) in July 2022 have had a direct impact in reducing the severity and frequency of load shedding, which was the primary objective of the plan.”<\/p>\n
