Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Build One South Africa leader, Mmusi Maimane, says the government needs to be proactive in fighting corruption in state institutions.<\/p>\n

In an effort to root out corruption at state institutions, Build One South Africa (BOSA) leader, Mmusi Maimane, said that lifestyle audits should be compulsory for government officials.<\/p>\n

Maimane was speaking during the party\u2019s election campaign at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

He has assured South Africans that a BOSA-led government would free state-owned entities from corruption within its first 100 days in public office.<\/p>\n

Maimane said the government needed to be proactive in fighting corruption in state institutions.<\/p>\n

“My call today is that we create an executive ethics ombudsman that will sit in the office of the president, that will ensure that a proper lifestyle audit is done. But the prevention of corruption is better than the cure of corruption.”<\/p>\n

He said it was concerning that unethical practices continued to thrive in government, as he partially attributed this to cadre deployment.<\/p>\n

“My lifelong dream is that ultimately even the president of the republic is directly elected by the people because then they would be accountable to the people of this country.”<\/p>\n

Maimane insists the incumbent government has no political will to address corruption at state institutions.<\/p>\n
