Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>During the recent 5th Ordinary Council Meeting in Bengani Town, Sakrim Chiefdom, Pujehun District, Chairman Foday Kandeh Rogers voiced concerns regarding the consistent absence of five councilors from council sessions without proper justification.<\/b><\/p>\n

Chairman Rogers highlighted that this persistent absence violates the 2022 Revised Local Government Act, which mandates the automatic removal of councilors who are absent from three consecutive council meetings.<\/p>\n

The councilors in question are Abdul Karim Fofanah from Makpele Chiefdom, Bobor Jakama from Perri Chiefdom, Hindolo Alusine and Andrew Mustapha Fullay from Malen Chiefdom, and Councilor Mohamed Kamara from Pejeh Chiefdom.<\/p>\n

Citing Section 22 D of the revised act, Chairman Rogers emphasized the consequences for councilors who repeatedly fail to attend council sessions.<\/p>\n

Chairman Rogers underscored the council\u2019s zero-tolerance policy towards such behavior, suggesting that the absenteeism might stem from a desire to collect sitting fees without fulfilling duties. He affirmed the council\u2019s commitment to enforcing the law in this matter.<\/p>\n

The chairman instructed the council\u2019s administrative arm to prepare letters to the five councilors, seeking explanations for their repeated absences and justifications for avoiding penalties as per the law.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Chairman Rogers stressed the importance of accountability and transparency within the council and urged remaining councilors to enhance their participation in council activities.<\/p>\n

The Pujehun District Council remains dedicated to addressing local needs and promoting development. Chairman Rogers reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling the council\u2019s mandate and encouraged collaboration among councilors to achieve communal objectives.<\/p>\n
