Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>This means that just over half of the people registered for special voting turned up over the past two days.<\/p>\n

Despite minor disruptions in some provinces, the IEC said that the turnout for special voting surpassed the 2019 numbers.<\/p>\n

The IEC wrapped up the second day of special votes on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Almost one million people cast their special votes at about 22,000 polling stations across the country.<\/p>\n

More than 1.6 million people registered for special voting.<\/p>\n

IEC chief electoral officer, Sy Mamabolo, said that more than half of these voters turned up.<\/p>\n

“At a point in the afternoon, indications are that 937,000 voters had been processed.”<\/p>\n

Mamabolo said that the IEC Was now gearing up for election day on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

“Voters who, for whatever reason, were unable to cast their special vote may still vote at a station that they are registered tomorrow.”<\/p>\n

He said that law enforcement would be on high alert to prevent any disruptions.<\/p>\n
