Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>More than 20 political organisations, including the uMmkhonto we Sizwe party and Ace Magashule\u2019s African Congress for Transformation, have rejected the election results.<\/p>\n

The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) says it will go ahead with the declaration of the 2024 elections despite having received a threat not to proceed with the event from former president Jacob Zuma.<\/p>\n

The commission is also still combing through more than 500 objections.<\/p>\n

More than 20 political organisations, including the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party and Ace Magashule\u2019s African Congress for Transformation, have rejected the election results.<\/p>\n

Zuma has called for a revote.<\/p>\n

He said if the IEC fails to heed his party\u2019s plea, the decision won’t be received well by South Africans.<\/p>\n

But IEC chairperson Mosotho Moepya said the commission would not be distracted from carrying out its objectives.<\/p>\n

“The commission was clear. There are many voices we hear. We really choose to focus on what we do, and we are not going to be sidetracked and be reticent about people we serve. We are going to respect them but we are going to do the work we are meant to do.”<\/p>\n

The results are set to be announced on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n
