Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The IFP managed to edge past the ANC to take second place, but the burning question remains: who is in talks of coalitions to gain majority rule?<\/p>\n

With voting complete in KwaZulu-Natal, the Umkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has swept the floor in their first election, securing 45.35% of the province with more than 1.5 million votes.<\/p>\n

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) managed to edge past the African National Congress (ANC) to take second place, but the burning question remains: who is in talks of coalitions to gain majority rule?<\/p>\n

If the IFP, ANC, and Democratic Alliance (DA) decide to join forces, they could tip the scales over the MK Party. However, the debutants have many options to consider themselves in ensuring they maintain majority rule over the province, with the likes of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and National Freedom Party (NFP), as well as dozens of other smaller parties.<\/p>\n

But while the MK party stole the show, another upset came in the form of independent candidate Thanasagren Moodley, otherwise known by his stage name, Karou Charou.<\/p>\n

Moodley, a well-known comedian, managed to secure seventh position, beating the likes of ActionSA, the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), and the Patriotic Alliance (PA).<\/p>\n

Much like Former President Jacob Zuma\u2019s MK party, this was the first election Moodley contested.<\/p>\n
