The ANC had options for a GNU, a grand coalition, confidence and supply and a minority government. They also look at the parties’ conflicting ideologies and policies, the options for coalition partners and what it would mean for the nation.Mbete tells us how the government models work and provides analysis on how they could apply in South Africa.<\/p>\n

Tandwa, who has been on the ground with the ANC executive structure, let\u2019s us in on deliberations of the party.<\/p>\n

With our host, Sunday Times deputy editor Mike Siluma, we start the conversation with the biggest surprise in the recent elections, the MK Party formed by former president Jacob Zuma which performed much better than observers had predicted.<\/p>\n

They dissect coalition options the ANC had on the cards and what their conflicting ideologies would mean in terms of legislating contended opposition party policies.<\/p>\n

Mbete said the voter is the winner in the elections. The framework has been stress-tested and withstood, she said, assuring the country will survive the tectonic shift.<\/p>\n
