Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>President Cyril Ramaphosa said that South Africa’s transition from coal-fired power to renewable energy would bring relief to millions of households battling exorbitant electricity prices.<\/p>\n

Ramaphosa was addressing the municipal Just Energy Transition conference at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on Monday.<\/p>\n

<\/b>
\nThe conference aims to draw up a roadmap for municipalities across the country for the effective implementation of the energy transition.<\/p>\n

Ramaphosa said that government would prioritise ensuring there was reliable and affordable electricity.<\/p>\n

“It will be important to sustain and expand this support during the Just Energy Transition and ensure that many poor households benefit from this subsidy, we will need to deal with challenging issues like electricity pricing structures and the staggering levels of municipal debt that is owed to Eskom,” said Ramaphosa.<\/p>\n
