Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Ekurhuleni Mayor Doctor Xhakaza says bringing back community Imbizos has improved service delivery in the metro.<\/p>\n

He said the engagements provide the city with a unique opportunity to deal directly with issues affecting residents.<\/p>\n

Xhakaza addressed council on Thursday, reflecting on 100 days in office.<\/p>\n

He said his administration has been able to get the small things right.<\/p>\n

Xhakaza said since establishing a service delivery war room, the municipality has significantly decreased the turnaround time to fix leaking water pipes, streetlights, potholes and electricity issues.<\/p>\n

“We use the Izimbizos to assist communities in Thembisa to deal and better understand the debt rehabilitation programme and also address the indigent applications. We feel this will go a long way in ensuring that how our communities better understand how we bill them, and it talks to the integrity and credibility of our finances,” Xhakaza said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and ActionSA believe Xhakaza is taking credit for previous administration’s work.<\/p>\n
