Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>ActionSA said that it won\u2019t be held to ransom by its coalition partners in Tshwane, after snubbing an ultimatum to recommit or exit from the pact.<\/p>\n

ActionSA is part of five political parties that have been governing the capital city since the 2021 local government elections.<\/p>\n

However, the party has recently announced it is reviewing its participation in the coalition after striking up a relationship with the African National Congress (ANC).<\/p>\n

Last Thursday, the four parties in the Tshwane coalition wrote to ActionSA giving it until Sunday midnight to indicate whether it was staying or leaving the pact.<\/p>\n

ActionSA responded on Friday, saying it would not be rushed with its review process.<\/p>\n

The party\u2019s regional spokesperson Tshepiso Modiba said the review was still ongoing and ActionSA would communicate the outcomes on its own deadlines.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really not fair and we believe as ActionSA we are an independent political party and we won\u2019t be held ransom by the DA (Democratic Alliance) or any other party.\u201d<\/p>\n

ActionSA said the review would inform how it plans to vote on the motion of no confidence against Tshwane mayor Cilliers Brink later in September.<\/p>\n
