Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has successfully recovered R6 million of the R18 million owed by former SABC Chief Operating Officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng to the public broadcaster.<\/p>\n

In 2016, while leading the troubled state-owned entity, Motsoeneng was awarded an R11.5 million success fee for securing a broadcast deal with MultiChoice.<\/p>\n

However, the Gauteng High Court later ruled the payment unlawful and invalid, ordering him to repay the money.<\/p>\n

Motsoeneng’s attempts to challenge the ruling have repeatedly failed.<\/p>\n

In January 2023, the Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed his appeal with costs. And now, the Constitutional Court has followed suit, denying him the chance to appeal the previous decision.<\/p>\n

SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago: “The Special Investigating Unit has already recovered R6,476,515 from his pension benefits. The SIU welcomes and sees the Constitutional Court’s decision as a positive step, as it clears the way to pursue the outstanding amount from Motsoeneng.”<\/p>\n
