Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The cold front, which made landfall in Western Cape on Wednesday, has now made its way up the south coast, where widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected.<\/p>\n

A Level 2 warning for disruptive rain has been issued for most parts.<\/p>\n

The South African Weather Service (SAWS)’s Elani Heyneke said areas along the Garden Route can expect flooding on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwenty-four-hour rainfall accumulations are expected to be between 10 and 20 millimetres. However, there is even a possibility for 30 to 50 millimetres, especially during the afternoon. There is also a possibility of small hail and lightning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heyneke has advised motorists to be on high alert and remain cautious on the roads.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor impacts, localised flooding of susceptible formal and informal settlements as well as minor motor vehicle accidents due to slippery roads and reduced visibility can be expected. Localised disruption of essential services is also possible, as well as rock falls and mudslides.”<\/p>\n
