Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The Gauteng Department of Education has issued close to 300,000 placement offers for grades 1 and 8 for 2025.<\/p>\n

The department received over 760,000 applications during the online admissions window, which opened in July and closed in August.<\/p>\n

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane said his department is making headway in streamlining the placement process.<\/p>\n

To date, just over 148,000 offers have been accepted.<\/p>\n

“This comes after the start of the 2025 online admissions placement period for grade 1 and grade 8 learners,” said spokesperson Steve Mabona. “Of these, 146,385 offers were made for grade 1 and 146,672 for grade 8.”<\/p>\n

The department has also moved to assure parents who have not yet received offer letters that all applications will be attended to.<\/p>\n

“The MEC has indicated that parents need to remain patient, as we remain committed to placing all learners fairly. We thank parents for their patience and cooperation as we work diligently to secure placements for learners in Gauteng public schools.”<\/p>\n
