Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Members of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) have described the unfinished multi-billion rand Montrose mega development as a \u201ccrime scene\u201d.<\/p>\n

The R11 billion housing project, situated in Randfontein, has stalled for about a year after the contractor, SCM Developments, abandoned the site.<\/p>\n

NCOP members representing Gauteng visited the site on Wednesday, where they were told the provincial government had terminated its agreement with the contractor.<\/p>\n

The NCOP’s Gauteng whip, Jane Mananiso, said the lost public money must be recouped from the entities involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne can tell there is fruitless expenditure there. There is maladministration, there is corruption. Actually, members of Parliament were saying when we speak about Montrose, we just declare it as a crime scene. Everybody is involved there, the contractor, those who were in the project as professional service providers and the community who have been vandalising.\u201d<\/p>\n
