Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Former Chief Justice Raymond Zondo said that Pravin Gordhan was committed to the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n

His sentiments echoed those of many speakers at the former minister\u2019s funeral in Durban on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Zondo highlighted Gordhan’s role in the appointment of the State Capture Commission of Inquiry.<\/p>\n

Former Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, who was also the head of the commission of inquiry investigating allegations of state capture, said that Gordhan was one of the people who pushed for the appointment of the commission.<\/p>\n

He says Gordhan even lobbied then-President Jacob Zuma.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the Public Protector Thuli Madonsela recommended the appointment of the commission but there was a lot of delay in the appointment, he was one of those who put pressure on the then president of the country to appoint the commission.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said that Gordhan led from the front once the commission started its work.<\/p>\n

\u201cPravin Gordhan was the first sitting Cabinet minister to come forward and testify before the commission and share with the commission what he knew.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gordhan will be cremated in a private ceremony after the funeral service on Thursday.<\/p>\n
