Then he called me back and said, \u2018Mr President, did I hear you correctly?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McKenzie has also thanked Ramaphosa for trusting him to occupy the Sport, Arts and Culture Ministry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose that think I can betray you, you have hired me in spite of people saying \u2018you can never make McKenzie a minister.\u2019 Today you can call me Bandit but you must say honourable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McKenzie said he\u2019s confident the GNU will make it to 2029 and has further dismissed suggestions that it is failing.<\/p>\n<p><b>HEROES&#8217; ACRE<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Ramaphosa has instructed McKenzie to draft a plan on how government can build a Heroes\u2019 Acre.<\/p>\n<p>The acre would be in honour of struggle stalwarts who lost their lives fighting for South Africa\u2019s liberation during the apartheid era.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the homecoming ceremony, Ramaphosa said government would continue to honour the country\u2019s heroes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I travel to other countries, to Zimbabwe, as I travel to Namibia, they have created incredible acres where the heroes of their struggle are buried. Those memorial sites have in many ways become sacred places of the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ramaphosa said McKenzie vowed to fulfil the task.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, Minister McKenzie has another task, and if you say he\u2019s happy about it, you\u2019d be lying because he\u2019s very, very excited to take on this task.
