Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The Emfuleni local municipality has signed Eskom\u2019s Distribution Agency Agreement in a bid to enhance revenue collection and settle outstanding debt.<\/p>\n

As part of this agreement, the municipality will appoint Eskom as its service delivery agent to manage all duties related to its electricity operations.<\/p>\n

This agreement comes after Eskom attached Emfuleni\u2019s bank accounts due to non-payment of its electricity bill.<\/p>\n

The situation caused delays in disbursing salaries to municipal workers, who finally received their September salaries on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Eskom spokesperson, Amanda Qithi:<\/p>\n

\u201cEskom and Emfuleni Local Municipality have also reached an agreement relating to the attachment of the bank accounts and to ensure that the municipality is able to pay salaries to its employees. The municipality has committed to cooperate with Eskom and comply with the Distribution Agency Agreement.\u201d<\/p>\n
