Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Advocacy group, Freedom Under Law (FUL), says it does not believe the MK Party’s John Hlophe’s withdrawal from the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) will affect its quorum.<\/p>\n

The party announced its decision to withdraw Hlophe as its candidate to the JSC in the midst of a legal battle over his eligibility.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the Johannesburg High Court ruled that the JSC’s interviews this week would not be tainted by Hlophe\u2019s absence.<\/p>\n

Freedom Under Law, which is one of the litigants in the matter against Hlophe and the MK, welcomed his withdrawal but sought clarity on what would happen in the court battle.<\/p>\n

The group\u2019s Chris Oxtoby doesn\u2019t believe Hlophe\u2019s withdrawal will cause a snag in this round of interviews.<\/p>\n

“I’ve watched the JSC for a long time, its very unusual that all members of the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces are sitting in the interviews at any one time and I think the unique circumstances behind the court interdict saying that a particular designate was not suitable for the position, that would be a justifiable reason why the position was not filled for these interviews.”<\/p>\n
