Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>The African National Congress (ANC) leadership said that it wont force its lower structures to work with the Democratic Alliance (DA) if they don’t want to.<\/p>\n

The ANC in Tshwane recently removed the DA-led coalition in the capital, with some in the DA saying that move undermined the spirit of the Government of National Unity (GNU).<\/p>\n

The ANC marked 100 days of the GNU at Luthuli House in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n

Since the 2024 general elections, the ANC and DA have formed coalitions in national and Kwazulu-Natal governments.<\/p>\n

However, that relationship failed to translate in the Gauteng legislature and the capital city.<\/p>\n

ANC Deputy President Paul Mashatile said that the breakdown of talks between the two parties in Gauteng have nothing to do with the GNU.<\/p>\n

“We want our structures to work with them but our structures came to us, Gauteng came to us and said the DA is making impossible demands and therefore we cannot proceed and we said to them well, leave them behind. If they are not reasonable go without them, it doesn’t mean we don’t want to work with the da all we saying is all parties must be reasonable.”<\/p>\n

The DA recently said it was disappointed by the ANC’s actions in Tshwane however they were not worth leaving the GNU over.<\/p>\n
