Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>Some African National Congress (ANC) leaders have again called for the party\u2019s renewal, this time in honour of the late finance minister and reserve bank governor, Tito Mboweni.<\/p>\n

Mboweni died last Saturday following a short, undisclosed illness at the age of 65.<\/p>\n

The ANC in Limpopo held a memorial service for Mboweni in Tzaneen on Thursday night where some of its top brass raised concerns about the internal state of the party.<\/p>\n

ANC NEC member, David Mahlobo said that Mboweni’s brand of humour and humility, even in the toughest of times, would be sorely missed.<\/p>\n

“Comrade Tito was very fierce and combative but he never looked down on other people.”<\/p>\n

But Mahlobo said that Mboweni’s job was not yet done.<\/p>\n

“If in Heaven there was a qualified audit report, comrade Tito’s skills might come in handy so that he fixes the books in Heaven so that they can get a clean audit because Heaven itself is an institution.”<\/p>\n

In honour of Mboweni’s life and legacy, Mahlobo called on political leaders to take a leaf from his book of good governance and selfless service.<\/p>\n
