Africa-Press – South-Africa. <\/strong><\/span>As the country reaches 208 days without load shedding, Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa said this should not be a reason to celebrate when the country should be completely free from power cuts.<\/p>\n

In 2023, the country experienced the highest intensity of load shedding.<\/p>\n

Providing an update on the state of the country’s electricity on Monday, Ramokgopa said he was also determined to reduce the cost of electricity.<\/p>\n

Already the savings in diesel costs when compared to last year, he expects will reduce Eskom\u2019s tariff requests to the national energy regulator.<\/p>\n

Ramokgopa said that his department had been doubling down on its efforts to increase green energy projects to improve energy security and reduce costs.<\/p>\n

“We want to get to a point where we don’t even count the number of days without load shedding because the expectation is that, there shouldn\u2019t be load shedding, there must be consistency of supply. The measures we’ve been taking over a period of time, as codified in the energy action plan, are yielding the kind of results that are required.”<\/p>\n
